What is Mindfulness?
It is simply being aware of the now…the present moment. After all that is all there ever is. It is being in the here and now. We tend to live in auto pilot, not really being fully present. Our minds drift in to the past, what we could’ve, should’ve, would’ve done…and into the future, the what-if’s. When our minds drift into the past it creates stress, and when it drifts into the future, it creates anxiety. Our over thinking ‘monkey mind’ has constant chatter (Beta Brainwaves) and typically we just let happen, and it runs our life. We then tend to be re-active rather than responsive. When we are living more mindfully, more present, we can respond to our surrounding with much more clarity and calm.
When we are in the present moment we are more in alignment and our brain shifts into an Alpha state, a state of heightened awareness and calm.
